How do you feel about skincare? Some people are obsessive, others don’t seem to give it a second thought. I fall somewhere in between – I like to do my research on particular products (forever in search of my HG items), but I also don’t want to spend a ton of money and time in pursuit of the perfect skin. When I was preparing for my wedding, one of my big concerns was making sure my skin looked as beautiful as possible without breaking the bank. I frequent the website MakeupAlley, the go-to forum and review website for any sort of beauty product (I don’t buy a product without making sure it’s got great reviews) and I came across a great discovery, courtesy of same rave commenters.
Makeup Artist’s Choice (MUAC) is a company that provides chemical peels to the public for pennies compared to what it would cost to go to your dermatologist. You can browse products by skincare problem and the company offers a ton of literature and great customer service to make sure you get the right peel and you apply it safely. I’ll admit, the idea of putting a potentially damaging chemical on my face a mere month before my wedding got me nervous, but once I went through with the process I was amazed!
First off, get some samples of peels you’d like. You can get at least 3 peels per sample, and I think it’s a waste to buy an entire bottle when you don’t know how your skin will react. The website recommends starting out with some of the milder peels, and I used the Mandelic Acid peel and Glycolic Acid peel to start out with. I got some awesome results – my pores cleared up and blemishes went away… and I’m a convert! I did use a relatively heavy duty peel (the 12.5% TCA Peel) a week and a half before the wedding just for preventative measures, and it worked phenomenally as well. Now I rotate the Mandelic and Glycolic Acid peels by using one a week, and I always finish every peel with mild toner and a lot of Hyaluronic Acid. Make sure to sign up for MUAC’s emails and you’ll get a 20% off coupon emailed to you in minutes – save a bit on your first order! Are you game to try it out? Do a few and report back! You won’t regret it.
